We seem to have drifted off the topic of Castrol oil !
I agree sometimes you have to do this as well!

oh well!
another thing that irks me thinking of it is people who slam on at the last second rather than being gradual to slow down!

bp ultimate and shell vpower are very similar the only difference that makes v power a better fuel is the amount of sulphur that it is lower.
Hi Askim, these figures are fascinating, but i haven't been too convinced when using V-Power. I'd like to see them independently ratified before i'm convinced because i know Shell have been taken to task for exaggerating their claims re Fuelsave.

the situation with fuelsave is a farce, the only thing they did it is increase the cetane level to the max and put some good flashing agents.

i am sure there is been varios tv and no tv program and did some test one of them was fifth gear if i am not wrong.

as i said before the decision is personal and related as well to the wallet.

Yes, the topic has drifted, again!!

Obviously, the scenarios you are talking about are completely different - in heavy and often slow moving traffic normal lane discipline sometimes goes out of the window, but on an open motorway with light traffic it is imo unforgiveable (primarilly because it's dangerous to other road users). I hate the M42 btw, except late evenings when it's quieter. In the daytime, coming back from Derby, i've now started avoiding it by taking the A38 to join the M6 near Lichfield/Tamworth.

Ok, i must admit that does go some way to convincing me, although the cynic in me says that you can't rule out the presenters having been bought by the fuel companies. 6 bhp extra isn't really going to convince me to, er, Shell out an extra 7p per litre on a regular basis, but i will use it on an occasional basis as i do now to help give the engine a good cleanout. I'm trying to learn the habit of more economical driving, so won't be maxing out on the, er, BhP too often (although even Volvo drivers like to put their car through its paces now and again i guess!).
