Nah that's no worries matey, every day is a school day!

If the ATF is brown and burnt smelling though, I would get shot of it. (the fluid that is, not the car!) Drain and fill method would be an idea!

Really good thread on here about how to change it.
I have changed mine and listed specific things to buy from B&Q etc to do it.
Dead easy job.
Also check that the gearbox is not leaking, again simple fix with silicone sealant.

If you get stuck ask on here theres always plenty of help available!

If your fluid is smelling burnt then you have overheated it &, regardless of what Volvo say, a bigger oil cooler is indicated.
