I have just been having a play with mine and didn't want to cut the dash so used the bonnet hinges where they come through the bulkhead, replacing two of the bolts with longer ones then made up a carrier bent to size to hold it up just under the dash. You can just see the display if you struggle but there is a remote with it so i just use that to swap between mp3 player and radio which is all i use, the stereo has both mp3 player port and a usb port on the right handside and these are both accessible easily. Just need to make a bracket to hold my mp3 player now where i can see it then sorted or just put all my music onto a usb stick, even better really as i don't need to make anything else. Best of all though is its totally hidden from outside the car, the last pic is with it in place.

Had a play with the speakers as well, didn't want to cut the rear shelf and i knew there was a thread somewhere that showed speakers installed in an mdf shelf but couldn't find it so had a go anyway. Using the rear speaker shelf carpet as a template i cut it 1cm larger allowing for the fact it would be up at an angle and not flat then planing the rear edge so it sat flush with the rear window. The speakers with their grills still sat above the shelf and i wanted them covered by speaker cloth and hidden so i made two end pieces with cutouts for the speakers in 18mm mdf then covered them with speaker cloth and they are totally hidden (ignore the picture, the flash picked up the shape through the cloth but in daylight they are hidden). The middle section was left so i covered some 9mm mdf with foam and some of the interior fabric i had left and put that in the middle and i'm happy with the result.

Nice one Tail,
Have a spare stereo lying around the garage somewhere and have been wondering about fitting it in the Amazon. That looks a nice (relatively easy) fit. Look like the brackets have been well over-engineered so should be up to holding up the stereo!! Dave |

Not kidding m8, i just had it lying round in my shed, did think about just using one but went for two in the end, i was more bothered about the weight on just one bolt so spread it across the two
