Default Heated Front passenger seat not working - Advice please.

Hi guys

As title.

Took the car to Volvo Paul Rigby who diagnosed problem with seat module (part number 30790972) and asked for a ridiculous price to replace it.

Ordered the part through independant (WF Pye & Son in Stirchley, Birmingham) at a third of the price quoted by Volvo, who (Nick) kindly swapped the part for no charge to only find it made no difference whatsoever. To be fair, Nick said from the start that he could feel heat in the base of the seat and he reckoned it may be the element and not the module.

Issue is what options do I have now?

Do I go back to Volvo and complain that they mis-diagnosed the fault?

Work with Nick at WF Pye to strip the seat to confirm which will be 2 to 3 hours labour to confirm?

Or any other options you can suggest?

The car is XC90 2005 2.5T SE 55 Plate.

Thanks for your help in advance.

the seat Pad heats up but the seat Back doesnt ?

if that is the case, Unplug the connectors for the heater elements on Both the drivers + passenger sides, and using a continuity tester, Test the lead from the seat back on the drivers, then the passenger,
compare the results drivers to passenger , should show you if the seat back element is ok,

if not, then its not That hard to extract the seat, remove the leather cover, replace the heated element and refit, DO tho disconnect the battery Before you start (and make sure you have the Radio code if needed)

you Can order just the seat back element if that is at fault, not That bad £ wise.

Hello Sydney, the seat temp has several settings, could it be set to the lowest level (done by Volvo Diags tool) was that checked? .... otherwise its likely to be one of the two elements or the controller/switch, you have ruled the controller out so the element is the most likely .... good luck with trying to get the dealer to take the controller back ... bet they are reluctant, despite it being their diagnosis because they did not do the work.

Hope it helps
