Nokian WR 52
Just ordered four of these at £157 each....I hope my my tyres experience is better than some. Seemed to best price I could find, I will let you all know what they're like once fitted.
My continentals don't look like they'd cut through dry roads let alone winter. |

I thought the Nokian WR G2 were well thought of?
That's a good price, let us know how you get on. |

I hope so! If we get a winter like last year in Kent then I will need them to be!

I was very keen on getting Nokians based on all the research I did, what the Scandinavians don't know about driving in snow is not worth knowing.
It was just the higher price that put me off in the end. My shopping list for the XC has so much on it!! I'm sure you will breeze through the snow. And if my untried and untested, cheap Accelera Iota tyres let me down I'll give you a call!! |

Bit confused by your comment, not sure I've read/heard any bad reviews or comments on the Nokians from XC90 users ....

Well. Like a small boy on Christmas day I saw the snow and was ecstatic!
I cleared off the XC90 and took her for a test in the snow... I live on a hill with a pretty steep gradient -flew up there (at 25mph tops...) No wheel spin when accelerating. Able to stop and restart ascent. Braking very good indeed. These tyres ARE as good as they say they are. And my 4wd is working which is the other reason to try it out. Now satisfied and having a cup of coffee before the big snowball fight begins with the neighbours! |

I used to have Nokiam WR tyres on my previous XC90. They had 11mm of tread instead of the usual 8mm.
They were excellent. Unfortunately discontinued and replaced by the WRG2 tyres, more expensive, 8mm of tread, but no doubt perform just as well. Last edited by AB-UK; Feb 5th, 2012 at 09:59. |
