Funnily enough mine comes on occassionaly too - as it did today when I got in it. Not sure if it's just dirt or grime around the sensor. Usually (as it did today) a slight movement of the steering wheel and the warning disappears.
I've not looked at it any closer as I know everything on the hub looks Ok but maybe just a weak connection at the hub ...

This happened to me today too just about an hour after picking up the car

Should I be making a call or is it nothing to much to worry about ?

A few things can cause this. Dirt was one thing mentioned. Some S40's have a known fault, and Volvo are repairing that under warranty. Call up Volvo and they will tell you if your car is affected.

For my car it was neither, it took a software upgrade. Only cost £96 ... better than the 1K i was looking at initially for fixing it.

Hope that kinda helps.

Just a thought on this Ian. There is a steering angle sensor as part of the antiskid and it could be that. It's cheaper than the active yaw one which is £417 including vat.

Hi

How did this go in the end?

My bruv took the car out a few days ago and put the parking brake on.... his car (a Lexus) you take it off by pressing the pedal again, when he tried to pull away he ended up wheel spinning at least one of the wheels. he called me to say that summat was wrong and we had a laugh when we realised that he didn't know about pulling the "bonnet" release :-/
THEN when he restarted to come home he noticed the "Anti-Skid service" message :-(

any ideas anyone?

May have caused an error code to be generated. (it has a very sensitive fault system and sometimes generates a false alarm) Just get the fault codes read, make a note of them, get them cleared and then see if any come back and act accordingly.
