DEMs can be reused from scrap cars
After continuing problems with my AWD and no real solution even with different Volvo dealers tried I got fed up and bought a whole AOC unit complete from a scrap yard.
It was correct for my MY and the Haldex generation. It was easy to replace and it worked straight away even without software reload. Contrary to VOLVO advice that DEMs cannot be reused THEY CAN BE REUSED!! This is equivalent to a cost saving of more than £1100 plus labour if you only change the DEM or £2500+ for a used AOC unit. |

After Volvo told me my DEM was faulty and it could definitely only be fixed with a new one, I sent my old DEM to BBA. BBA-reman returned it "checked and no fault detected". The fault still continued. I now have a donor DEM on my car. No software download required either. |

I rang several scrapyards and eventually got a whole AOC unit with DEM, pump and presssure sensor from volvopartsuklimited@yahoo.co.uk. I also used partsgateway for offers.
Volvopartsuk claimed that they had several in stock. I spoke to Pete Tonge. He had more knowledge of these than I had found with Volvo dealerships. I paid £300 + VAT. |
