Default Ok, getting somewhere!

My 130 pound e-Bay winning is cleaning up nicely, just taking a long time! Engine now seems fine bar a few niggles to do with idle and rich running. I am replacing the O2 sensor hoping that that will cure it. I also intend to replace the exhaust with a stainless steel version, not sure yet whether with or without cat.

So, engine. When I start it up, the car idles fine at 1000 rpm, but if I then rev the engine a bit and step off the throttle, the revs go down drastically and the engine almost dies, on rare occasions it actually does but mostly they go back up and everything is fine. What is this?

Also, at idle there is quite a nasty shaking. I am unsure whether this persists whilst driving as the suspension is more or less non-existant but I think it's limited to idle. Any ideas?
