Help - P004900 Overboost and hesitation
Hi all, need some help.
I have an S60 D3 2011 163hp which has developed a fault when accelerating mostly in higher gears. When overtaking in 3rd, just before the car reaches 3000rpm, the car seems to hold back on the power suddenly and cautiously brings it back to full revs. There are no warning messages on the car and the below images are the stored error codes. I was getting a DPF pressure sensor readings erratic message also, but this hasnt come back in last few days. Any help would be very much appreciated!! |

The MAP sensor is pretty common on these if that helps.

Just as a follow up and thank you to muffking, had the car diagnosed today at FRF Swansea and it was the boost pressure sensor that was faulty.
They have replaced the sensor down by the intercooler and all seems back to normal now! Strangely enough, they told me that they dont usually keep parts like that in stock, but had 2 on the shelf. Definitely looks like a common issue then! |

D3 same issue
Hi, to bump an old thread I had very similar symptoms in my D3 V70. However, the problem turned out to be a small split in the hose connecting to the inter cooler. In my case the sensor mentioned previously was correctly flagging the pressure loss in the hose. I don’t now how much the sensor itself costs, but as the hose is North of £100 I imagine it won’t be any cheaper! So anyone else experiencing this issue may want to check their hoses first.
Special thanks also to Volvo Assist for identifying the issue in just over an hour, including the 30 minutes it took them to get out to me. |
