The Torslander was sold as the cold weather, no-nonsense version of the regular 240. Hence less electrics to go wrong, plastic as opposed to chrome trim etc, etc.
Volvo have achieved very clever advertising cache with the name, which conjures all sorts of Nordic wilderness imagery, however as a Swedish friend of mine said when I asked her where it was: "Torslander, why you want go there? It's a very large Industrial complex outside of Goethenburg?" So, a bit like calling it a 240 'Teesside' or a 240 'Port Talbot' perhaps................ Dave A.
