V50 1.6D - Possible Turbo Control Valve issue?
I've been having issues with a lack of turbo boost for a while now.
I've had the DPF off the car and given it a proper clean with chemicals. I've also had the turbo off and gave it a visual inspection. All seems OK. The car drives much better now but I did notice when the engine is revved and held at 2000 rpm, the turbo actuator is barely moving. I connected a vacuum gauge to the turbo vacuum pipe to test. At tick-over, it reads about 20inHg. Taking the engine up to about 2000-2500 rpm only sees the reading drop to about 15 inHg. Killing the engine sees the actuator arm retract fully, so there is no issue with that. Am I right in thinking the turbo boost control valve should fully shut off the vacuum supply to the turbo above about 1000 rpm? (I got this from a YouTube video). Also, there appear to be 3 pipes on the TCV. I believe these are vacuum in, vacuum out (to turbo) and atmosphere. Is this correct? Thanks in advance. Alan |
