Last MoT
The Barge and I had to go and see a man about a dog this morn, and we have just returned with a shiny new 13 month MoT certificate (with no advisories).
It wasn't quite plain sailing as we had to have two goes at the CO emissions. The first test was this morn, the Barge passed everything except the emissions test - but the garage agreed on a re-test at 5:30 this eve: where it just snuck in under 4.5% CO (3.74%). That is still higher than I'd like, but I've run out of adjustment on the Stromberg CD 175 CO screw - and the green book figure is 2.5%. I think what I'll have to do is drop the needle down one notch, then adjust the screw up again. The MoT garage has kindly agreed to let me use its CO tester for some fine tuning one day next week. I might as well take the opportunity to change the diaphragm at the same time. I'm really happy that the last few months work on the Barge has paid off and it has a new test with no advisories - in fact I'm quite proud of that. This will be the Barge's last compulsory MoT (it will turn 40 on 1 June next year). All in all it was worth going to see that man about a dog
