DIY FM/AM fix and adding Pre amp output base/performance IAM
Hello guys, i want to share some information :
How to replace AM/FM module and adding a Pre-AMP output on the circuit board. First i buy an used IAM from ebay. My is a 1CD17A The donor radio was a 1CD16W. The partnumber does not to be exacly the same. i noticed the most IAM's have the same parts. Like a 1CDIAM, 1CD16A... FM module replaced : removing the FM module was a pain in the as... (dont worry, this is the donor board) The FM module The FM module placed on my radio Result ? slightly better fm reception and the AM also works again.... But still not happy with the sounds quality, also when the reception is good. So i'm going to continue using DAB+. Then the pre-amp output: First i try this : But this was a no go, way to weak signal and a lot of noise. Then i try this : This is the lucky one. Good sound, strong enough and no noticeable noise Situation before : Internal DSP --> internal Volume control --> internal AMP --> external High level to low level convertor --> external amp. Situation now : Internal DSP --> internal Volume control --> external amp. So i removed 2 steps Result ? Before it had sometimes a sharp hard high tone sound (high mid). And also to many low tones to my external amp. Now the low frequencies are in a normal level and the high-mid looks also better! I don't want to overload the internal PCB's to mush so i only connected my front stereo amp to the pre-amp output. The (small) sub-woofer is still going via high level, but that's no problem... |
