Default XC Geartronic Box

I presently own a Y Reg (2001) V70, with which I tow a 2 berth caravan (max load 1350kg)
The V70 tows very adequately on the road and similar solid surfaces, but is appalling on wet grass (even with the caravan lightly loaded or even unloaded)

So I am considering buying an XC90

However I have no experience of the Geartronic gearbox, and am a little concerned about its ability to cope with towing a caravan. Particularly having read some of the posts related to towing with this type of auto box. (admittedly, these post seem to concern themselves primarily with 'lock up' of TC's and the benefits of oil changes)

I have the opportunity to view an Ocean Race, fully loaded, 2005 vehicle with approx. 100K on the clock, but which has no towbar attached - so presumably has only ever been driven solo.

Can anyone either allay my concerns, or
alternatively provide advice/experience which will enable me to make a judgement as to the suitability and reliability, or otherwise, of such a purchase.

Thanks

Jack
