I had chosen Momentum and built-up from that, rather than Inscription. As a result I did have to specify the 12.3" display. This was quite clearly and correctly stated on the order confirmation I signed in August. (I did hear later - perhaps on here - the story of all models being fitted with 12.3" because of supply problems with the 8" but I accepted I would never see the £400 refund from the lease company. That's life.) On 31st December I got the delivery confirmation from the lease company, which also stated 12.3" display. (They were asking me to confirm the details were correct!) I did actually query in writing whether the delivery confirmation was an 'as built' list or just a copy of the order confirmation. The answer was a kind of wishy-washy, "Oh, just checking it's what you'd ordered ..."
In my email to the lease company yesterday I've started from the position of '... being minded to reject the vehicle ...'. I'm paying through the nose for it and I don't see why I shouldn't have what I ordered and what they promised. I've no idea whether it's even practical for a dealer to do a dismantle and re-assemble job on something like this. I've a feeling nothing on the dash area would ever quite fit back together the way it should.
But, hey, I'm a reasonable man. We all make mistakes. It's how you recover from these mistakes that marks you out from your competitors. Who knows who actually made this error? The lease company is Lex, the dealer I've now found out was Mill in the North-East somewhere (150-180 miles away depending on which branch) and we can't yet exclude the factory. That's a lot of people who will probably all want to point the finger at each other. And to make matters worse I'm going to be out of easy contact for the next two weeks on jury service. Wish me luck sorting this lot out!
