This is a difficult one. I guess for a car like that I'd pay maybe £3k. I don't know; I guess when you see a car you really want and you can afford to throw caution to the wind you often do! I have a 1990 Mercedes 260e auto with only 52k on the clock. It's mint. If I was buying it today I would pay £2500 max for it, but to sell it I would want £5k.
Modern classics make stupid money, no matter what make or model; I mean who would pay £3k for an Austin Allegro?? Someone would. I've always found I've paid too much for a classic car and never found someone as eager as me to buy it when it comes time to sell. I've only ever made money selling utility vehicles; I bought a Hilux 4WD pickup for £1500 and sold it three years later for £2500 - and the guy nearly ripped my arm off to get it.
