Default SWAP: 480 for 460

Am I mad? Probably...

Having run around in a 480 ES 2.0-litre for the last eighteen months, I have just serviced and taken it off the road, not because of faults, but because I have several other classic cars in storage that need an airing, one of which is the 440.

Anyway, it's a Peacock Green 480ES 2.0-litre manual, with 69,000 genuine miles on the clock and no dodgy ones. It had one owner from 1993 to approx 2012. Everything works, bar the central locking and the horn. Info centre, dash lights, windows, speedo etc are all operational. The body is solid, with hardly any rust at all and certainly no holes. It has been re-undersealed and professionally cavity waxed in my ownership.

The rear arches are very good, one has 2 spots of surface rust that have been touched up. The paint is original, though there are some marks (more deep scratches than scrapes) to the bumper corners. It also had the rear lamp clusters and centre panel replaced with brand-new genuine Volvo items about 2 years ago, with receipts to prove. New rear callipers were fitted at around the same time. It needs front discs and pads, although these are supplied. The MOT is up in October. It is not SORNed.

I am planning to keep it, unless a 460 Turbo comes along, in equal condition. It has to be manual and a Mark One. Alternatively, a 460 CD would do, in either turbo or 2.0-litre form, but has to be a mark one again.

If nothing comes up, I'll keep the car stored until the end of next year and use it then.

Anyone interested? - oh and I have the original rims, which are in excellent order.

R
