As the first major batch of snow in 2013 is now melting I though this would be interesting. For people who had winter tyres on, how did you find them? Did they get you through all the snow and ice when others struggled or did you find them over hyped? Let people know what you used and if you would recommend or tell people to avoid them.

For my part, I used Marangoni Meteo HP tyres for the first time. They are an Italian manufactured tyre that I bought online and had fitted by my local garage. They got me through all of the weather without a problem even when I saw others wheel spinning or sliding around. I did not feel as if I was on rails but I always felt safe and the car always found grip going forward, whether up or down hills where others visibly struggled.

It was my first year on winters but it felt the equal of my last two years which were spent in a 4wd with all season tyres. I am not worried if the snow returns and that is what I was looking for in a winter tyre.
