Default 1999 s40 Hazard lights problem

Hi there, New user here 2nd time volvo owner. Just bought an S40 1999 1.8 xs. walked out of house and hazard lights were on and stuck on.

Tried locking re locking manually. pressing c/lock all that and no joy, unless I kept the hazard button fully pressed or Indicators were on. Thought the switch button was gone so i pushed it hard and it stuck at the fully pressed in point. So I have either shorted or disconnected the switch, Not sure but it solved it, although got no hazards now as button is stuck in and i'm scared to pull it out in case hazards get suck on again.

Any way my point is after being on this forum I now think it may be the loom or perhaps there was a reason the hazard were flashing in the first instance. The drivers side door lock is stuck in unlock position so maybe related. So I am fearing loom probs now and dreading it. I'm an electrician but know nothing of auto electrics. Is it a ring configuration with multiple spurs or what. how are conductors insulated etc. Cheers and Hi
