Default New S90

Saw the new S90 yesterday and it is bigger than the XC90. Very comfortable and is just lovely inside and out. The passenger seats are so comfortable. The one I saw had black headlining and tan leather seats with matt wood trim. Superb dash as well. Looked really great.

£30 road tax and 64.2 mpg for the D4 version. Taxation will change in the spring of course.

I'm looking forward to seeing the new V90 Cross Country which I understand will use the same components as the XC90.

Roy

The new XC90, S90 & V90 are a personal disappointment to me.
My old XC90's, XC60 and the two V60's have a wider space, just inside the cargo area.

I regularly carry a piece of equipment that is 48" long and could get it straight across the back of the XC60 and V60.

With the new SPA Volvo's, even removing the First Aid kit, one is only left with a width of around 42".
There must be something behind the left hand bulkhead and elevated shelf, that prevents a wider dimension.
Beside the 48" piece of equipment, I also have four rectangular boxes, plus a holdall to pack.
The 48" bit, is having to go in at a bit of an angle and the rest?

To be honest I can't remember any Volvo I've owned being 48" across in the back. Even the 940 estate which is the biggest estate Volvo ever made wouldn't quite take 4 foot wide stuff unless it was at an angle. As I remember the measurement in the back of most Volvos is about 44" between the wheel arches. That was the measurement of the XC90. Maybe the XC70 is a bit bigger though? I'll measure the XC60 tomorrow.

Just configuring a V90 I see that you can have 4C suspension and AWD with a D5 Power Pulse engine. Doesn't look like the suspension is raised from the pictures though as far as I can tell though. Comes out at £53,775 which is quite a lot cheaper than the same spec XC90. Have to find out the ground clearance.

Well browsing some more I found a film of the Cross Country version and that defiantly has more ground clearance. Looks ideal for me. Think I may well be tempted when it comes on line. http://www.volvocars.com/uk/cars/new.../cross-country I see Polestar already do an optimisation for it. 240 hp and 500 nm.

Will you be saying this when the new XC60 arrives ? Depends, of course, whether you need the extra size of the V90.

The old XC90 WAS 48" wide in the back, I carried 48" wide chip board sheets in mine, my new one can only get 44" wide items in.

Have you sat in the new S90, the rear headroom is very low the XC90 has more front and rear leg, shoulder and head room than the S90 and has 7 seats, there are a few mm diference in exterior length and width dimensions and the XC90 is far higher with much better interior comfort size wise and a bigger load area, only thing that lets the XC90 down is road noise from air suspension and wide tyres when on 20" wheels, I dont know if S90 and V90 will be any better.
