Oil leak from car for sale
Hi guys
I've seen an xc90 for sale, but it has an oil leak. Gearbox is fine, the salesman said it needed a new seal, and the whole job would cost £225 pounds. It's got sat-nav, and priced quote low at about £3995 for only 130,000 miles It looks promising, and I'm prepared to repair for a good deal. So What do you guys think? |

Agree with Shadeyman. I have recently spent over £1000 on my 130k miler fixing what appeared to be a small leak and turned out to be rear main oil seal and rocker cover gasket, £600 and £500 respectively, along with numerous visits to and from the garage for diagnosis. Get it fixed before you part with your cash.

Yeah, I think it would be a good idea to repair it first.
How is the sat nav on these cars? I know that it pops up out of the dash, which is cool, but is the actual thing good? |

The sat nav is not brilliant, but is ok; a lot depends on when it was last updated, the newer discs have improved things quite a lot but it is still not up to the standard of a recent Tom Tom or Garmin.

Hi, new here, BUT I think I know the exact car you are on about - Indeed I know the previous owner who traded it it in because of the quotes she had received for repair, I was tempted to buy it, as I am a time served mechanic myself, but didn't fancy doing the job at home on ramps..
The car in question actually has a small scrape/graze to the passenger front door, just below the mirror, if it's the same one.., and a bit of scuffing to the front NS bumper... Mike |
