If you go to the Volvo web site it will tell you the cost for your car at current mileage and what will be carried out:

Someone posted on here the other day that the timing belt interval for the 1.6D had now been changed to 87k down from 144k miles. The "Service Price Indicator" certainly isn't reflecting that.

Is that change not for the D2 rather than 1.6D?

Doh! Quite right. I never saw the end of that thread that cleared that up.
I'll crawl back under my rock ;-) delighted that our 1.6D's belt may soldier on a little longer.

Hello, can anyone help I have a warning triangle on dash of my C30 1.6D - with the message -Engine System Service Urgent.
No other codes when I check the message and reset buttons, It does go if I reset with engine off, but as soon as I restart it appears again. any ideas? it is at 74,600 miles, could it be that it is approaching 75,000 miles? |

I have a 2010 S40 1.6 diesel Drive with 70,500 miles. The trader who I bought it off quited a figure of 120,000 miles before changing the timing belt.
Was he talking a load of crap or does that mileage figure make sense? |

Depends which engine you have.
If it is a 1.6D (D4164T) 109PS engine which has a 5 speed gearbox then as far as I know the cambelt interval is still 150,000 miles or 10 years. If the car is a 1.6 D2 (D4162T) 115PS engine which has a 6 speed gearbox then 87,500 miles. |

If as I suspect yours has a "wet" PDF the fuel additive tank is topped up every 37,500 miles irrespective of the service interval and the DPF itself every 75,000 miles irrespective of the service interval. Given that high mileage users generally have clean DPF's and low mileage users less so this seems a counter-intuitive instruction, but that's what it says in ViDA/VADIS. Sadly Volvo's prices for the DPF replacement do not reflect the fact that DPF prices have fallen and Volvo still indicated a price of more than £700 to do the job. Hopefully stealers are being a little more realistic in practice. In a clear act of planned obsolescence, if a 1.6D hits 150,000 miles at the 10th anniversary it could need 'belts, pulleys, water pump, alternator and a/c compressor clutches, a DPF and fuel additive top-up all in one go ... (or, like most Citroen, Peugeot and Ford cars with the equivalent engine, selling on eBay 2,000 miles short ... ;-)) |
