Question Next car options (thinking out loud)

I Will be looking to replace the S60 in the new year......MissB has already said she wants it to knock about in (to replace the Golf tdi).

My options as it stands ATM:

Option 1: I Get something newer, trouble is newer Volvos (S60/V70V/V50) don't seem to be made as well as the older (Pre-Ford) cars, or are the newer ones not as unreliable as all the VOC posts lead me to believe?....So do I leave Volvo and look at other brands for a NEWER car? ...is the grass greener?
If I left Volvo it would be for an Audi as I have no interest in BMW or Mercedes.

Option 2: I Go back to a lovely old 850/ P1 V70 T5....I do really miss my old white MTE'd 850T5, it is the only car to date I've regretted selling.

Option 3: Stick with the S60 for me and get MissB a V70tdi to knock about in?

answers on a postcard please.

Option 2...

As you know yourself...you'll rarely get more fun and enjoyment from a now relatively inexpensive car.!!

any new cars are complex and despite what anyone says many of the parts are from the same suppliers in different boxes in many circumstances whatever you say.

DMFs/DPFs/all that are as common as mud and something that pops up frequently but i think it does on any forum. You cannot fail to forget of course that a Volvo forum is naturally going to bring problems as that is what most people will come to forums for.

Depending what audi you look at then coil packs, and many other things are just as common VAG is throughout so much of them now well yeah...also VAG's recent cost cutting measures are something to be weary of i know on many they simply cut the life of the item not redesign it...

personally i love the new S60 i recently sat in an auto and tbh as much as i dislike in the majority i love it! it just suits the whole car!

I've driven new cars all my working life and find them to be 'just another car'. I've owned a few over the years as well and have lost interest after a short time.
Since retiring, I am probably in a better position now than ever to buy new. I get more pleasure though, from owning and driving an older car which I can take care of and get admiring comments from people who can't believe how well they look. My 160k plus £500 C70, has just taken me through Switzerland over the Alps and to the South of France, and given absolutely no trouble.

Have you seen that 850R on ebay. I've watched it slowly come down in price to £1099..........

Is it just me or is everyone driving AUDI's now? my missus is looking for a new motor to replace her megane f1, the only car I told her to avoid is the Audi's because everyone seems to have one now. I dont have anything really against them just way too many out there.

Thumbs up

Update:
Was going for option 1 and Looked at a few 850t5 and P1 V70t5 (and a R) They were all in a xxxx state.
I've completely lost enthusiasm for them and wasted my time going to look at them after bieng assured buy each seller the cars were in great condition.

---------
I'm full steam ahead and Going for option 1.
I'm buying a newer BMW 3series Tourer (E91) as soon as the right colour and spec comes along and missB is having my S60.

Cheers all.
