Default MP3/AUX/USB Input.

Hello

I purchased one of these little things from the bay.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Car-MP3-Player...ht_2935wt_1139

It looks like a great little device, flashed specifically for Volvo, with the correct CD Multichanger cabling.

(P.S. they accepted $10 less as the best offer)

I like the way you format the pen or card with 10 directories CD-01 - CD-10 and the standard head unit just cycles through as if it is seeing 10 cd's.

Right my question...

The cable has a round DIN type connector with about 10 pins, which I assume my head unit has a socket for. It also has a single cable, which is for +12 volts. So my question is... Which cable on the back of the stereo has 12 volts on it??? The manual says the RED one???

Will keep you guys updated with the install..

Back of the HU-803???

Which +12 volts should I use.

Also noticed two dins on the PIC, which one is or the cd changer???

More reading suggests the corner din is for the AMP, so in my case it should be in use.

The other din will be for the changer, so thats what I will be using...

Ones a 6 pin, the other a 8.

Mmmm looks like an interesting little box of tricks. Let us know how you get on with the install. If it's simple and it works I might just have to purchase one of these.

Red it is for 12V power source on the green plug. I did fitted myself a GROM unit on HU603 http://www.gromaudio.com/store/usb_a...interface.html
as I am really satisfied with the unit. The sound is superb punchy quality far better than a cassette aux . Here is some instructions as well very easy to follow up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEGblNwcXyo
Just get this unit if you're looking for a better aux/ipod player as you won't be disappointed. Recomended

The picture you posted, allows a switch to be used if you are also using a 10 cd changer. So you can switch between this device and your boot changer.

It does not have a specific ipod port, but it does have a aux in, and the AUX, USB, SD card are selected with a button on the HU 803. SO you could use the 3.5mm aux in for an ipod. In fact in the package, you do receive a 8inch 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable.

Q: How do you change from Aux to USB to SD? Do files on the USB/SD have to be structued a certain way? My 2000 Volvo S80 has a HU-801 radio. Will this work for me?
A: use press Scan button or RPT button!

Will be installing at the weekend...

Was going to go for a grom, but this is half the price, and will do what I need, also looks a better package.

I am going to mount it to the far right of the gear stick surround plastic, flush to the top of the plastic (I think).

Will post some pictures of the contents of the box tonight. Delivery was less than a week using EMS courier from China. (Don't forget $10 less as a best offer).

Picture of the kit.

Please note, the switch to switch between the changer and this unit is optional. So if already have a 10 cd changer in the boot, you will have to think again. If not, this is ideal.

I'll be interested how get on.

I bought a very similar unit via fleabay for the same sort of price. It works OK when the engine is off but turn the engine on and there's horrible interference .
Something to do with ground loop feedback from what I can understand. Took mine and not had time to firtle with it any more. I asked a few questions and got a few replies on T5D5 (http://forums.t5d5.org/topic/15062-i...p3-box-fitted/).

Can't do anything else at the moment as I'm off on jollie hols in less than 12hrs (sans Volvo - 2 wheels only this time )

whoops edit: yes, the big red cable coming out of the green multiplug is the switched live feed. I tied in there with a proper spliced connection using the same yellow power cable from the gadget. The 8-pin DIN connector on mine plugged into the innermost of the two DIN connectors on the back of the HU-803 of my barge

The 8 pin connector is for the CD changer and the other for the optional amp.

Post here suggests that the red wire is a permanent live.
