!!!!!!MOT and the shakey seat!!!!!!
Some of you may hafe read my thread on strange failure reaons for MOT's, anyway, I had to sort out my shakey seat and thank the bag man I did, as I unbolted the base from the car and ifted it out of the car, the head rest cam of in my hand, alarmingly witht the top of the rear back frame still attached to it.
Once dismantled, I found that the whole back section of the seat frame had fracture at all 4 corners, if it where not for my MOT failure I would have eventually failed with me sitting on it and that could have been a nasty situation. If you have a 240, with a shakey seat, and you think it can be fixed with a nipp up of the boltd, just keep in mind how did the bold become loose in the first place, was it like Rusty's, is the back section littered with fractures. Thankyou for listening Rusty |

Cheers Gary
The seat has now been rebuilt, this included a lot of welding, repairing seat pad and even making the litle hog clip staple things that hurt when you get them stuck in your fingernail.
It was completed about 1AM this morning its a nightmare I have no idea how factories knock seats out by the 1000, its almost like black magic. Hopfuly it passes MOT muster tomorrow. I will keep you posted Many thanks Rusty |
