Default "Reduced Engine Performance" post Throttle Body cleaning

Bought a 2005 S60 2.5T (first Volvo) last week with 120K miles and it was sputtering a little bit at idle (around 700 rpms) and when accelerating (up to 2k RPMs.)

Got an oil change and fuel system cleaning from a Jiffy Lube within the hour, and that helped the engine run a lot smoother.

It was still sputtering a little and after a bunch of research I figured out that these are notorious for getting gunked up Throttle Bodies causing the stutter.

So I read a few articles and watched a video on how to do it, went to my local auto store to get some Carb cleaner and a couple tools, and spent a couple hours taking it apart (the correct way, battery disconnected first, etc.), getting the TB out, cleaning it till shiny clean and no gunk, then put everything back together!

Feeling pretty proud of myself I reconnected the battery, waited about 10 min (as suggested) for it to re-calibrate, then started it up, and Put... Put... Put... Pu-Put... and a "Reduced Engine Performance" message coming up. (Note: this sputtering was WAY worse than before and it is running VERY rich)

From my understanding, after cleaning these, often you need to have the computer reprogrammed/re-calibrated by Volvo (Quoted $150 by my local dealer) before they will operate right. But in theory, once programmed it SHOULD run 100% better.

I guess my question is:
Is there a way to reprogram or re-calibrate it myself?
Could it be that I did something wrong or missed a step?
Could it be something else? (MAF Sensor?)

Basically just want to save money and learn about my new car.

Thanks in advance.

MAF performance and response can be monitored through live data using a decent code reader.
My Autel MD801 showed mine was faulty.
MAFs can also be cleaned with decent results using CRC MAF cleaner available on eBay.

Also now it it also saying "Engine System Service Required"

Unless someone has any ideas it looks like I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and take it to Volvo.

All 2003 onwards cars have Bosch throttles and do not need reprogramming, nor do you need to leave it for 10 minutes etc etc.
Plug it in and go.

When you start it, it runs really rough yeah? when you put your foot on the throttle pedal, right down, does it rev past 1500 rpm? If it does, you've got a boost leak somewhere - probably the intercooler to throttle pipe isn't connected properly.
If it doesn't rev past 1500rpm then there's 4 possibilities...

...the throttle isn't connected correctly (the electrical connection that is),

...is bolted on the wrong way round/upside down (there's a locating lug which will cause a big air leak if it's not located properly),

...The butterfly could be jammed,

...The throttle unit has packed - up. (they do fail but unlike the early ones, they're plug n play, so get a second hand one from a breakers)

I'd start by taking it all apart, putting it back together and double checking it all.

I've cleaned my 2002 throttle many times and never had to visit Volvo for any kind of reprogramming. It does run better after a clean. There was a call some years back for a software upgrade to minimise the potentiometer wear in the ETM.

I had a problem with my 2001 S60T. It was horribly sluggish under 2000 rpm then would kick in. Code reader at local garage didn't show anything. I knew it wasn't a turbo or engine problem as it was fine on motorways etc over the 2000 rpm.
I stuck it I to the local main dealer who cleaned the throttle housing and upgraded the ETM.
