Estate - hard to get parts
I'm going to look at an Estate project car tomorrow that has been fully stripped down ready for restoration. Are there any parts that are no longer available/hard to find that I need to make sure are with the car before I make a decision on buying it ?
Thanks in advance for any advice given |

Do you know Amazons? Do you know someone who does? Can they go with you? Condition v price is obviously a factor and will depend on how you want to go with the resto and how much you can do yourself to an acceptable level. The more it is stripped the easier it is to check everything. Panels available to repair most rust areas but things like the A posts and rear chassis members at the undersides of the boot areas are time consuming and require fabrication. Rusty upper tailgates are hard to repair and good ones not easy to find. Bonus if the seats and interior trim is decent to good. Chrome parts expensive but stainless bumpers are cheaper. Anodised front screen trim and gutter trim in good nick also useful. New front grilles available but expensive.
Check down Brookhouse parts lists to get some idea about costs. As an Estate owner I say Good Luck. |

Are you buying it from an individual or from a restoration business? If from a business I would guarantee there will be parts missing and anything decent possibly swaped for poor condition parts. If it's the one I'm thinking of I wouldn't even bother looking at it.

Thanks for all the responses so far, it isn't the ebay one and as far as I know it is an individual who is selling it.
