Thumbs up Auto box sport mode - result!

I posted a thread a few months ago regarding the possible upgrade to "Sport" mode for the auto boxes which created a few enquiries, but not much progress. Well, success - when recently booked in at the dealers (Strathmore of Perth) for a small warranty repair, I asked them if it was possible to install this upgrade. They said they would look into it, then called back to say it "might" be possible, but couldn't offer any guarantees. So in it went with "D" on display when the lever is pushed to the left, and out it came with "S", and a much more responsive kick down. It cost a total of 38.20, Volvo Pt No 30788938 (Upgrade TCM to Sport).
Hope you all have the same success in obtaining this upgrade as I did ! Good luck.

Excellent news.

Be aware though that when I had my MY11 upgraded about 3 weeks ago it caused the BLIS, Lane Departure and Distance Alert buttons to become “Miss Mapped” so that they either didn’t work or switched more than one function at a time.

This resulted in a painful 2 weeks of searching out a cure resulting in a full software re-load to cure the problem (as well as replacing several electronic bits at the same time).

You are a star - when I contacted Volvo on this they told me it was not possible, I posted their response.

I will be chasing my local dealer to get this installed

just to confirm that you are on a 59 plate also?

Hey Vecais.. what month did you get your XC60? I got mine in Nov 09 (MY10) though and Volvo (Global) said it wouldn't work. Let me know if yours work?

Yes, the same Nov 09 delivery.

I have already put a request to the dealer service, quoting the above referenced part number. They will check to see if it is possible.

Had a test drive of a XC60 with the Sport mode and liked it. It would be a great help when driving on winding roads climbing through the hills. The alternative manual shift is too fussy for me. I like an Auto that always chooses the right gear for you.

The standard XC60 Auto is fine when driving on flat terrain.

Great. Do let me know if it works. BTW, my DPF sensors failed about 2 weeks ago and car went into limp mode. Dealer had to replace them. Driving in limp mode is damn dangerous.

Got to love Strathmore. I have found there service to be faultless over the past year & a half and it seems they have been on the money again!!
