Default Newbie and XC90 Delivery times

Hello all, recently ordered an XC90 D5 Active [at the current discounts and with the extra support on the part ex it was too good a deal to miss!] Read loads on here and thanks for all the info. Couldn't afford an X5 or RR Sport and wasn't sure about the image, thought about nearly new Murano or CX7, was tempted by a good deal on a discovery 3 - until I saw the changes in the new model. Tried and failed to get a good enough deal on an XC60 - then found XC90 still looks good and drove one and realised a manual solves many of the issues I had had with the car - was astonished at the deal through Drive the Deal and quickly signed on the line!

I'm really looking forward to the car and all the standard kit it comes with in Active trim, downsides will probably be the foot/hand brake and the tyre wear but coming from low profile run flats I can't believe how cheap the tyres are TBH...

Only last question I have might be one of those how long is a piece of string questions but here goes anyway - Order Times - I was quoted six to eight weeks which was changed on the order form to ten weeks and then became five weeks. Not sure how busy the factory is at present but its a factory build cos of a couple of options so [a] How accurate are the dealers normally and [b] anyone know what current actual delivery dates are like?

Thanks in anticipation, Peter

The normal time I was quoted was 6-8 weeks but due to Volvo shuttimg down for July and a large quantity of orders for the xc90 my car ordered at the beginning of June will be here next week .

If its any help, I ordered my Active 2 weeks ago from main dealer, and the delivery date is 9th October. Factory order with few extras. Decent price too.

Thanks both, looks like six weeks may be possible? I'm really looking forward to getting some miles done in the XC90 and even my better half is mildly interested in her new car...

What factory fit extras did you order?

Just passenger airbag cut off and spare wheel instead of foam kit from memory - all the other gadgets I wanted are standard - oh and side steps but I presume they're dealer fit?

The Volvo dealer convinced me I don't lose any boot space or sub boot cubby holes by having the spare - does that sound right? I would've been OK with the foam - we had that in an RX8 a while ago.

Buck - I presume you bought from Aberdeen dealer around 29/30th August? I bought an Active from them on 30th August and have been quoted estimated delivery of 22 October - sounds like you have a quicker delivery date.

Pieter11.... I believe dealer placed factory order week before you, though I only confirmed extras on the 01/09! Strange, I got they impression they regularly placed advanced orders on the basis that someone would come in change spec. It does seem quick to me though, but they want my PX asap re book price dropping I guess.
How did you get on deal wise? Did you go for manual or auto?

Looking forward to picking-up, really happy with deal, in terms of after sales just hope it works out, else long drive to another main dealer.

That's why I was confused - our manual D5 Active says 22nd Oct on the order form confirmation but dealer says two weeks earlier - maybe they just give themselves a long lead time for dealer preps etc? Peter

went for manual with no significant options - subsequently ordered passenger airbag switch and power locks but that didn't affect delivery date.

price was good but PX value not particularly great - no doubt simply part of dealer pricing the deal.

I have asked dealer if the estimated delivery date is accurate as it falls in school holidays and would have been nice to take delivery before then.
