Default V90 Audio - Files via USB

On my previous V70XC I copied all my files from a USB onto the Hard drive but that does not seem possible- bit of a pain as it means I cant use the USB for charging phone at the same time.

My main issue is that the V90 Audio either does not find the music files or ends up with a new Album for every track. Some are fine but others are a mess.

All the music files are in Album folders and worked fine on older system . Tried also on 2016 V40 and read fine from USB

issue e.g.
1. Album is missing so cannot see any files
2. Single Album entry but only one file (others missing
3. I have 12 entries for a particular Album with a single track in each

It's a pain in the ass, after lots of fiddling I managed to sort it with "Media Monkey" and labelling the correct groups of track with the album title, takes some experimenting.

Yeah, I hear your pain.. been there done that.. New Sensus only works with properly id3-tagged music.. But after having spent some time organizing my mp3 collection using mp3tag (https://www.mp3tag.de/en/) it's all fine now.

On the other hand- I love being able to stream Spotify and TuneIn radio directly on my car stereo.. you loose a little, you gain a little

Yes, the folder thing is a total pain in the **** - there are quite a few posts moaning and commenting about it on here.

Personally I use the MP3Tag program. quite easy to use, but a lot of power if you need it (and are of a technical bent). but there are a number of others out there as people have already commented. Find one you are happy with

The silver lining at the end, is that all your music will be perfectly tagged and ordered

Thanks. Media monkey seems to have worked fine.

I just need to sort out the sync of my shame contacts now.
Only syncs the start of list from a Microsoft phone

Cheers

Does anyone actually use music from a usb stick?

My initial view that the Media monkey solved my issue was short lived. Much of my music needed manually tweaked which was very time consuming.

I still have some music appearing as multiple albums.

The biggest issue is actually audio books. The application won't find these as it is not music. I have systematically failed to be able to get the car to see the books. I have several books and it shows the only the very last as an album with just the last chapter.
Not sure what the cause is. Maybe because many chapters are 45 minutes. Either way it is frustrating as it works fine on the old sensus system fine.

I've pretty much given up listening from a USB stick. Sensus makes a mess of organising music that is stored in the de facto industry standard of Artist/Album/Track. Why they don't allow access via this simple structure is beyond me.

I've used Mp3tag to 'fix' some of my music but I've neither the time nor inclination to go through all my music.

Stick one of these in the 12 volt sockets and you can charge your phones tablets etc without having to use the cars usb slot leaving it free for your music.

You should not use the USB socket for charging devices , It can only supply 500 ma ( 1/2 Amp ) whilst most modern phones / Tablets need more than this , Up to 2 Amps ..Also it will wear the socket plugging in and out all the time . You can use a 2A usb charging socket which plugs into the 12 Volt outlet in the car .
