850 T5 Towing limit.

gocaravanning.com states that the towing limit for an 850 T5 GLE Auto is 700 Kg?
Is this pants?

I'm off to check my owners manual...

Yep, thats pants. I tow with 854 T5, and that is the same as the estate, 1600kg max. The 700 is probably the weight for an unbraked trailer.

If you're going to be towing something heavyish in your auto bit I would (and Volvo do) reccomend fitting an additional oil cooler for the transmission oil.

Its built into the radiator next to where the hot coolant flows and isn't very effective. Volvo reccomends fitting an additional ATF cooler for cars that tow or are driven hard or in hot temperatures. They make a huge difference.

Heat is the enemy of the autobox, and autobox replacements are upwards of £1200-£1500 !

Fit a oil cooler, cheaper than a new box. The peace of mind when towing is worth the outlay.The in rad oil cooler is just not good enough when towing. Bob

700 sounds right - but for an unbraked van.
Your max tow for your car will likely be 1600Kg or there abouts.

It is recommended that you tow not more than 85% of your cars kerb weight with you and full tank of petrol.
Likely nose weight is 70Kg on the towbar.

These are just guesses. You should check the manual for your max tow weight and weight of your vehicle.
