Default S60 Brake Disc Rust

I have a 57 plate S60 - so 2.5 years old 48,000 miles - it has just been serviced by my local Volvo dealer who reported that the front discs need replacing due to corrosion on the inner face. They have refused to change the discs under warranty. The outter faces of all 4 discs look to be in perfect condition. I think I'm being conned. Any views?

Ask them to show you the problem is best ... sometimes if an inner pad sticks the surface wont be swept like the others ..

Exclamation S60 Brake Disc Rust

Landvetter,
Surely if an inner pad has been sticking, therefore not sweeping the disc, that is a warranty (& safety) issue as is any consequent damage/repair.

It cant be a warranty problem if it has been working fine from new for say 40000 miles ? It would have failed much earlier if it were assembled incorrectly etc . If the car is parked up for 6 months a pad can stick so not really a warranty issue more a service issue .. wear and tear , front pads could be worn quite low or been replaced by now ?

IMHO ignore this Volvo Stealer's report unless you feel that your car's braking is impaired.

Corrosion reported on Inner Face yet none to the openly visible and more exposed Outer Face???? Do me a favour! This smells to me of another RIP OFF by a Stealer !!!!

Not true ,
I have seen many discs which have heavy flaking rust on inner faces yet the outer face looks clean , very strange ... Just get the garage to show you , you dont want to ignore a potentialy MOT failing brake problem ...

If the car's discs ' Have corrosion' but it brakes and pulls-up evenly and passes a MOT test within it's specific braking parameters then tell me where is the necessity to replace the discs?

It will lead to brake vibration in time .. although should fail under
"a brake disc or drum insecure, cracked or excessively scored, pitted or worn" i would think ... depends how bad it is ..

Erm, I gotta be missing something here?
Turn the steering on full lock, get down on your hands and knees and have a look for yourself!
