Hi, can someone confirm what the brackets/lugs are, located centrally on both sides of vehicle on the underside of floorpan, could they be locators for side steps?
thanks Matt |

Careful. Previous posters have said that the "lug" which is halfway along the sill is not a jacking point.
I have to say that I have used this point to jack up both front and rear wheels together before, but I believe from what posters have said that I have been lucky not to have caused damage. If someone has a Haynes manual perhaps they could be kind enough to copy the relevant page showing this "lug" and its description. BTW, the side steps bolt on front and rear, not in the middle. |

Yes, I concur, before asking the question I did check handbook, this is certanly not a jacking point.

newer models have two jacking points , under the centre of the front and rear doors on the inside of sill . Older ones have just the one which is just forward of the centre of the drivers door on the inner side of the sill ..

So the bracket/lug is nothing to do with jacking point? as you describe the jacking points are reinforced areas of the sill front and rear, so what are these lugs???

I always assumed that they were either for strapping the cars down or for part of the production process.

![]() I have a 2008 MY and the manual shows two jack points if using the factory jack, which I didn't know before reading this thread. I thought this lug was the jack point for the factory jack and I almost wanted to use this the other day to jack the front and rear simultaneously on one side!
