Default Brand New XC90 Exec

Have owned for eight weeks now and it has been back to dealers for the following:-
Squeaky drivers seat(leather rubs against the plastic surround)-cannot fix,
Lag in pull away from stationary-marginally fixed,
vibration in engine-steering until reach top gear and cruising at steady speed-marginally fixed by update (apparently too much drive sent to rear wheels by computer!!),
These are all annoying on the top of the range car and suggested they have done all they can-can anyone help please on any of the items.Other than that it is an excellent car having owned an XC70 for 4 years from new and just fancied a change.

Bit of a pain with a new car ... take it to another dealer or scare the crap out of the existing one and tell them you wish to reject the car it if they cant fix the minor niggles .... have you spoken to Volvo Customer Care?

ie, replace the plastic seat surround or even the seat, replace the steering damper ... etc.

Try a little leather polish where it touches the plastic.
All diesel XC90s seem to experience take-off lag. My current car (2010 Exec) has it, although not as much as my previous 163hp model did, so the problem has improved a little.
This may or may not be improved by "chipping" or buying the Polestar upgrade, but this issue has been debated and discussed in this forum for years.
Anyway, enjoy the car - I love mine!

The lag in pull away is definitely not apparent in all XC90's, my own car has never done it and neither did the demonstrator I borrowed for a weekend prior to purchasing.

I find this bizarre as some owners have reported this for a long time now, surely Volvo must be aware of the reason.

Hello,

See my post above, XC90 Vibration. My vibration problem (also on an XC70 with 700 miles on the clock) is evident with car stationary.
Did your vibration only occur when the car was moving?

Thanks

Default Vibration

Vibration is there when stationary but not too bad, but greater when engine going through the gears up to about 60mph when the car seems to smooth out and is fine.As i have said the dealer says there is nothing more they can do.(After they had reprogrammed to level out the power between front and back)As you would expect i am not happy with this as it stands and just considering my next step.I would consider the level of vibration on this standard of car as unacceptable.I never had a single issue with my XC70 in four years.Unfortunately all the Volvo dealers in this area are all part of the same group.

Are you talking about the Volvo dealers who have a branch in Yeovil as well?

Concerned to read about your problems as I am due to pick up my MY13 Executive in the middle of September - mine will be LHD so I'm picking it up from Volvo export and hopefully any problems will become apparent before I export it. My local dealer in the UK is, however, the Yeovil dealership who have, in the past, been first class in sorting out problems.

I also have a MY12 XC90 Exec, biggest irritation is the centre console jumping out (daily) clips to secure are totally inadequate. Apart from this ownership has been non-eventful.

I picked my brand new 2013 Exec model last Saturday I have the same problem after only 271 miles. Really disappointing on a £40k+ motor.

It also pulls to the left badly and it's going back to the dealer this Wednesday to hopefully be fixed.

Have you managed to get the issue fixed?

I bought a fy10 in march 2010. It has the three 'features' described above. I complained about 'noises' at first services. When i got the car back, the dealer had forgotten a spreay to lubricate leather in the car. Volvo must know it and spray the interior when complaints. That xc90 makes so many noise (dashboard, seats, suspensions, brakes) ... Does not bother my wife but drives me nuts. So, gave it to her and bought a bwm 5 series for myself. What a pleasure... No noises.
