V70 rear copper brake pipes.???
Hi Guys,
Could anyone tell me if the rear brake copper pipes are metric or imperial. Also same for the screw threaded ends. Many thanks.

The pipe is 4.75mm and the thread is M10 x 1.0 on volvo brake fittings - copper nickel (kunifer) for the brake pipe & fittings are brass.
Now, brake pipe commonly comes in 3/16" - or 4.7625mm in metric - so most, including myself, use imperial brake pipe as its easier to get hold of and the difference of 0.0125mm makes bugger all difference in real terms. Flaring tool needs to be metric, for the DIN flare, NOT an imperial tool which will give you SAE flares (see attached photo of flare types) Hope that helps. Cheers, Morgan |
