LED Conversion
I'm thinking of upgrading my V50 headlights to LED instead of conventional light bulbs due to my DRL's being on all the time. These have been recommended by another Volvo owner. The light output on my dip beans is still mediocre even though I've upgraded to more powerful bulbs and cleaned the projector lenses.

They look bonkers bright! I've got a rotator light bar that needs some more welly, these could be the answer!
As for headlights, I think you'd be an early adopter and the gen 3 versions are very pricey. Any MOT types out there that have seen some?

They may pass an MOT but that doesn't make them legal for road use.
They don't have type approval and will likely interfere with the light pattern and they are far too bright. |

By the lack of marking on them, the fact they are LED and the light output is way too high. no aftermarket headlight LED's will be type approved.
And its not just seeing where you are going its might be an issue with dazzling oncoming cars. |

I don't understand the desire to get bigger and brighter headlights all the time. I'm pretty certain Volvo (with their reputation for safety) would not knowingly sell cars where the driver is unable to see where they are going. Either there is a fault with the standard headlights or perhaps there's a case of needing to go to Specsavers .
From the Horizon website: http://www.horizonleds.co.uk/index.p...formation_id=5 In the United Kingdom, fitting an aftermarket HID or LED kit is not 100% technically road legal as there are other factors which need to be considered first and such information varies between vehicle models. Therefore all our Xenon HID & LED Kits are sold as off-road use only. Last edited by Simon Jones; Jun 10th, 2015 at 23:50. |

Been thinking about this for a while. More for the novelty than anything else. HIDs in a reflector housing is a no no for me because I know how annoying they are when driving towards them. Saying this, I've not really got much cause to upgrade the headlights on the S60. The dipped beam halogens aren't exactly weak even with £1 ECP special bulbs fitted. I was driving home from a camping trip a few weeks back, it was the first time I'd used the high beam in anger and I have to say I was impressed by the way they lit up the road.
