Default Rev Limiter Rotor Arm

I read that there are two types of rotor arm for my 240 (86 2.3 carb) and that one limits the revs.

Is there a visible difference in these?

Also, I went to Halfords today and the recommended one in their book looks nothing like mine ....and they were the useful helpful and informed set of staff: "duh, I normally work on the bikes man!" !!!!!!

I would use a non rev limiter one. It is a lot cheaper and doesn't fail like the rev limiter one can whereby it starts cutting out at lower revs or produces a misfire. If you run lpg you should not use the rev-limiter as it can cause backfires.

Hi Mike,

Wish this had been a topic last year!

I bought one of the new type (the only one available from Volvo btw), not only do they not fit well - the base scrapes on the bottom of the dizzy, they don't work very well - the B200e in mine totally hates them.

So, after wasting over £20, I bought one of the old, old types from the local motor factor. Mine runs with the B19 type (up to 84 model year), which is the type it's had since before I bought it, despite it being an 89 model.
The second type is supposed to be for B200F and B230 up to 93 model year.

Hope this may help save someone from wasting their money on (some) genuine Volvo parts that happen to be crap (don't buy their discs either, they are garbage!!)

Cheers,

T

BTW, Mike, think I can get down your way next week for some stuff.

In that case maybe the timing is off, or even the timing belt.
