1.8 Gearbox on a T4

Does anyone know if a gearbox from a 2003 1.8 volvo engine will fit onto a 2003 T4?

Im guessing it will but just wondered if anyone could confirm it.

should do ,( as long it isn't a GDI ) but it will be a bit of a handful with gearing that low ... would your larger driveshafts fit the gearbox too ?

Low gearing doesn't bother me.

Don't know about driveshafts. Thats one I was hoping someone would know the answer to.

4000 rpm at 75 mph low gearing ? ! It bothers me in the 1800 let alone a T4 which cruises endlessly at High speed and low rpm ..... there will be so much torque the traction control will be working overtime and upsetting the handling and slowing you down . Historically with volvo , when ever they increase the power of an engine over time they put a taller final drive ratio in .

Ah be fine. Ive got a BMW E36 which Ive geared down from a 2.93 final drive to a 3.15 from an M3. It revs higher but drives a lot better, is much livelier and I'd rather get from 0-60 quicker than be able to do 146mph.

Pretty sure Smithy on here has a 2.0T with a 4.45 1.8 gearbox in so Ive messaged him to see how he did it.

If a T4 gearbox turns up then Ill use that but if not then ill use a 1.8 gearbox.

In my 2.0t the 1.8 gearbox does lower than 4000rpm at 75mph .its doing around 3.5k but it's a hoot to drive now compared to before

Pretty sure my T4 used to do 3000rpm at 70? I can cope with a little bit more than that
