Both the 3 dr and 5dr are badged as 340's. The early ones are 343 3 dr and 345 5 dr.

Price all depends on condition and who is buying on the day tbh

Good runner yes, but you'd be lucky to get a non rusty shell for that. 300's are pretty much bullet proof running wise, and if something mechanical is wrong they are super easy to change/fix. But... they rust. Check the sills (rear of sills where the jacking point is, and from the rear arch into the sills, very common MOT failure. Other than that, they are pretty random where they go things like bootlids and doors will rot but arn't structural MOT stuff so can be sorted at your leisure.

For economy, a late 1.4 with a 5spd is pretty good. 1.7's are the best engine fun wise but also are the most likely to not be running right and do take constant attention (think spoilt child... ). Certainly the 1.4 isn't as slow as you'd expect though.

Default 340 points

I, ve had my 340,1.4 . for 11 years has ohv engine so no belt to worry about! f and done 60k with no problems except carburettor idle jet blockage which is easy to fix once you are shown how. Nothing seems to wear out and they aare cheap to insure and tax. Selling mine as have a frree bus pass and the 340 is a surplus second car. Not far from you in Reading . taxed and tested see

Default volvo 340

Hi, the seat belt has retracted into the b pillar so not in photo. There are also 3 rear seat belts and flashing warning light if you do not belt up. There are lots of nice touches also like a flashing light if your water temp gets too high and extra brake light, double bulb/size rear lights, spot lights, bolt on wings, very easy to change oil ,air filter. After a 940 turbo ,it would be a relief from the complexity! If I carry on extolling its virtues, I will persuade myself to keep her!

regards, Steve

its been some years back now and maybe i was unlucky, but every 1.4 i had or knew of died between 100 - 130,000 miles due to the oil pump being crap.

The 1.7 was fundamentally a much better motor
