Cool Top Mount

Hi, i've just fitted a new top mount because the old one was split, fitted the square one, but the car vibrates really bad at 60-70 mph now, and it used to be so smooth, is there a special way of fitting this mount?

No vibrations from mine (using the square mount) at any speed. Check the torque settings for everything that was removed and replaced.

Its an 05 S60 D5 (163), just took all the bolts off the old one and replaced with the new square one, didn't use a torque wrench though.

Okay, its not the new mount, i put the old one back on and its just the same, cant believe this, it was so smooth to drive now its vibrating through the steering wheel ,the pedals and the seats. Had the back wheels balanced , not that so i'm going to try the fronts tomorrow, but i cant see it being that unless it was pure coincidence the weights flew off on the day i decide to get my mounting done, bit of a long shot methinks, but i'll keep you posted.

Seeing at it wasn't there before (I guess from what you've said?), I'd really want to check those torque settings, borrowing a wrench if I had to.

Take a look at:

Particularly the attached pictures on that post.

Hi,

Does the vibration link to car speed or engine speed? Try getting up to speed and slip it in neutral, is the vibration still there?

Have you knocked off any wire or plumming when fitting the mount?

Bob.

Hi Bob, car speed, thats why i don't think its the mount, although the car seems a little gruffer the vibes come in at about 55mph and really bad at 65, gonna try and sort it again this morning.
