How long to fit a theromstat?
Hi all, I spoke to Russ @ RT Mechanics yesterday about my poor boost problem as per my previous threads. He mentioned that it would be in my interest to replace my thermostat as that could even be causing the issue.
Going to collect one from Volvo shortly during lunch break only £17.86 inc. vat. Does anyone know how long it should take to fit and where abouts its located on a C70 T5?

The car is due for its 125K service so I will leave the coolant change until then, got to get the thermostat and the g/box & engine light sorted first.

Changed mine recently, should have been about a 10-15min job but had a slight problem!
The screws holding it on use a Torx-40 bit, they are also very close to the cylinder head and one of them is a little tricky to get at with a socket. Anyway, once I had loosened this then I inadvertantly dropped the Torx bit down behind the PAS pump. I was waiting for the clunk as it hit the ground but it never came. Fished about with a magnet without joy, eventually had to give it up as a bad job and thought I'd just change the bolts for some Hex or Cap heads from my stock. Unfortunately the bolts are M7 of all things and I didn't have any of these. Just as the air was getting blue I remembered I had a few odds and ends of Torx bits at the back of my toolbox - thank goodness one was a T-40 so could put the thing back together. Morale of the story - be careful if you are a clumsy bugger and only have one T-40 bit and no M7 bolts! |
