BKV 2004 - Young Driver Prize
The board swallowed my last post...so here comes a shorter version!
Was a result ever decided for the young driver prize at this years BKV? I only ask because there's about an 80% chance that either myself or one of my chums won it! For those who weren't there, the 'winner' turned out to be a white haired dude who couldn't read what was printed next to the 'are you under 25' box. Probably too busy polishing his engine bay... cheers James

RE: BKV 2004 - Young Driver Prize
Hope it was you! That 360 looks well tidy.
I started a few years back with a 340 GL 1.7 F plate. Pacific Blue Metallic. (1995 Age 23). Have kept it Volvo ever since. I used to do the show and shine bit but got fed up with cars that hadn't even been cleaned properly winning prizes in the section of which I was a member. |

Speed holes! And there's the custom lightened rear valance ;)
My car now has a much less rusty sunroof...but a busy summer has meant that not much bodywork has been done since the National. Bummer... cheers James

RE: BKV 2004 - Young Driver Prize
Yeah this would be of interest to me, I have entered my cars in the shows since i was 18, this year just gone was my last chance.
Its really annoying that every year bar 1 that the prize is won by someone in there 40's and despite asking after the show for them to find out, nothing happens, i guess the club isnt interested in its younger members and there efforts with older Volvo's Polishing & Cleaning Products and hours spent cleaning £60 Petrol to and from the BKV £100 VOC Raffle Tickets to Support Club £10 Some stupid old **** that can't read wins the Under 25 Section, ****ING PRICELESS For all other things there's Mastercard, not accepted at VOC BKV's. |

Well, you could get called up to the podium as the runner up in the Driving Test Challenge only to get there to be told 'Sorry, we don't give a trophy for being 2nd'. I bet the 'walk of shame' on the Weakest Link would be easier to bear than the walk back to my seat.

Well I did leave out the sniffy comment from the lady with the score sheets when I pressed her for who came second...."Well none of you scored very well". Yes, I have a life...and unless you're retired having a 'shine and show' at the beginning of the summer is no use.
cheers James

RE: BKV 2004 - Young Driver Prize
You mean i was supposed to clean the car before the show......oops ;-)
I left it out in the rain the night before, and ran a rag over the rims and that was it. I loved it when they opened my bonnet, as the latch is covered in oil (as is my entire engine, its to prevent rust, honest), and someone got oily fingers! oh well, they just dont apriciate the komfort waggon, thats their loss!
