  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way

Angry XC90 2.4 D5 engine

Help needed!!!!

Car in for service, changing oil filter no oil in filter housing. Filter dry !!.

Engine flushed with flushing oil, filter housing unit replaced. No change.

Intermittently filter housing fills with oil but it drains away after a while.

Can anyone please heeelllllppppp.

Bypass valve jammed open? As the D5 has a "paper" element filter, rather than a "cannister" the valve that protects the engine in the event of a blocked filter, which would normally be part of the cannister, is probably located somewhere within the housing - Not at the shop, so no access to VIDA to double check..

My filter housing has always drained out when I have changed my engine filters, may be normal
