Default Volvo Just Keeps on Impressing ....

Fourth towing trip with the XC60 since purchased in January, but first longer trip.

Long term MPG only dropped 0.3 Mpg, stability perfect despite a stiff beeze, power seems limitless.

Really, REALLY happy with it!

Here we are at journeys end ... Yellowcraigs Caravan Club Site which opened for the season today!

Iain,

Great to see your pics. Mine looks exactly the same except that the radio aerial is white and blends in with the White bodywork.

How do you get on with the winter covers on the fridge grills?

Iain,

Nice to hear you are very pleased with your Volvo. Thanks for posting another great image of your outfit.

We finally get the opportunity to try our XC60 on Monday, we are booked in at Black Horse Farm CC site at Folkestone. It's not a long trip, but will give a good mix of A, B and motorway towing. We have just had the caravan charger replaced, as it had failed. A common problem for BCA chargers by all accounts.

I have used them on a few 'vans ... do keep out the draught!

I remove them round about May and put them back on September - ish!

Good to hear Iain - off on our first long trip soon (300+ miles each way) and looking forward to seeing how the D5 compares to previous cars

Nice picture!

Well it has taken us almost 5 months of ownership of our XC60, but finally we have towed our caravan. Am I impressed with the car? Oh boy yes!!!

I was a little worried with getting a D4 AWD, but the XC60 has plenty of grunt and just gets on with the job. Plenty of power, but the geartonic box does seem to hang on to the higher gears and is reluctant to drop a cog with a mild stab of the pedal. A quick flick of the stick into "Sport" and problem solved, revs back up and back into "Drive". Stability was superb, with only one twitch from a passing white van. Ride quality was acceptable on poor surfaced A & B roads, but nothing to worry about.
I didn't bother with checking fuel economy, I don't worry, it was purchased purely as a towcar.
We are now nicely pitched up at Black Horse Farm CC site near Folkestone. Fed and watered, feet up and relaxing!!

We had one pleasant surprise late afternoon, a pair of Spitfires flew overhead in formation - oh those Merlin roars - Wow!!!!! Too fast for the camera, sadly!!

At Black horse Farm CC, usually a busy site due to it's location near the Channel tunnel and Dover for the ferries. The site is ideally located for the channel crossing and has good access from the M20. It is approximately 20 minutes to the Channel Tunnel and 30 minutes to Dover Port.
