Default New 1998 S70 owner

Hi all

Makes a change to have a proper forum still up and running rather than facebook groups .

I have recently acquired a 1998 S70 10V nothing special but its low miles at 108k .

Run a few diags on it after i found a few bulbs in the clockset removed (6 in total ABS, Tracs, SRS to name a few)

Only codes i have left are these ones and any help would be greatly appreciated on getting them resolved.,

Volvo S70 fault codes found currently,

ECC-135 Engine coolant temperature (ECT) signal missing
ECC-414 Fan motor pass comp temp sensor, faulty signal
SRS-212 Drivers Air Bag, OC or Cap too Low - fixed now
GLA-311 Siren, Faulty signal
GLA-415 Left ultrasonic sensor, Signal faulty
GLA-312 Siren, Internal battery fault
GLA-321 Siren, Fault in the power supply
GLA-413 Right ultrasonic sensor, Signal faulty

Regards O

With regard to your alarm fault codes (of which there seem to be plenty!) although I haven't had this issue myself, I recall quite a few threads on here about the alarm batteries leaking onto the alarm PCB and causing all sorts of electronic problems with the alarm. Well worth a look IMHO, the alarm unit is (IIRC) behind the wheel arch liner on the front right wheel.

HTH - keep up the good work

Yeah I found the alarm unit behind the front wing during the week.

It was making some noises when I collected the car but non as of late.

On a side note the sunroof seems to be jammed motor works fine had it off and the keyfob central locking seems inop too?

Anyone in the borders with a few spare parts could do with a few bit 😂

Slowly getting round to jobs on the car.

Shoes are sat there along with a new drivers side caliper and wheel arch liner to go on.

Got in it today to go for a drive to get some bits and noticed the climate control panel has the recirculation and the AC off lights flashing? Any ideas I know the AC doesn't work as I suspect the gas has escaped.

Any ideas?

Hi O

ECC-414 code may relate to the sensor circled in yellow on this page
and it may be causing your flashing control lights

https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/fo...ic.php?t=66576

It is tricky to get at if you don't know how, but fairly easy when you do.

Sorry, dont have time to write it up
maybe google
volvo 1999 v70 cabin temperature sensor

Note that that is the internal temperature sensor not the external temperature sensor.

It accumulates fluff, which then stops the tiny fan from running.
Remove it and remove the fluff.

Engine coolant temperature sensor is an important one to fix. If you are lucky it will be a broken wire near the sensor, otherwise replace the sensor. Not too expensive.

Useful sites for reference are

https://www.volvopartswebstore.com/c...car-parts.html
https://www.fcpeuro.com/Volvo-parts/
https://www.ipdusa.com/
https://skandix.de/en/

but mainly for reference because they are overseas.

Try a Volvo dealers or https://www.partsforvolvosonline.com/ for parts in the UK

I wouldn't worry about the siren/GLA stuff until you have sorted out the other basics.

HTH
Steve

Cheers Steve I'll get a look at it at some point.

With regards the coolant temp sensor is that in a different location to the gauge one?

No, the coolant temperature sensor drives the guage as well as the ECU - it's next to the thermostat housing on the driver's side of the engine.
