2014 XC60 d4 fuel filter change
Hi all
Just had a go at replacing the fuel filter on my 2014 XC60 D4. How do you get the filter cap and the filter element out, as the anti roll bar and crossmember are in the way? Do you have to remove parts of the car? Thx. |

There are a couple of vids on UTube covering this.

unscrewing the drain screw will help but it will wangle out anyway ...

I didn’t remove the housing, just rotated it out of the way and popped the filter off. I then cleaned out the housing in situ (over a washing up bowl) and popped it all back.

I've see the you tube videos, but can't find one on a later model.
On the earlier models you can remove it completely, but on mine you can't get the cap (even with the drain plug removed) or even the filter out. The filter is wider than the gap. Has anyone actually done this job on a 2014 (or later?) Model? Thx. |

See my post above (mine is a 2017 D4 AWD). If you search my previous posts, I’ve responded to someone else when I did mine and included photos.
As I said, I just unscrewed the housing and rotated it to one side as it also wouldn’t fit through the gap. The filter then popped out reasonably easily and the new one popped in just fine. The housing was cleaned, then rotated back over the filter and screwed home. A little fiddly, but didn’t need to disconnect anything else.

Ok, thanks.
I'll give it another try. I couldn't seem to get the filter out, but I'll have another go. There was a lit more fuel coming out than when I did the job on my v70, I take it the diesel shouldn't keep on coming out once all the fuel in the filter & housing is drained out? Thx. |
