Engine has been standing, starts but dies and misfires
I have a car that has been standing for about four months without being started or drive. Yes, I know it is bad. Now it starts and runs for a second or two (and sounds great for those few seconds) but then dies. It misfires when you press the accelerator pedal. Any ideas?
I will do plugs, cap, rotor, coil and lead as well as clean oil and coolant and fresh petrol tomorrow. Anything else that needs looking at? Car is a 1979 Daimler with inline six and fuel injection and auto box. 1995 Volvo 945 LPT Auto |

Probably just condensation and damp. Once it's been running for awhile and warmed up it should clear itself.

Sounds like fuel starvation . Check fuel pump relay is receiving an ignition signal to keep it closed . The relay is kept closed when cranking the engine and allows sufficient fuel pressure for the engine to start .When the engine starts and you stop cranking ,the relay relies on the ignition signal.

Thanks, I'll have a look at that.
