Default limp mode volvo v70

Hi just wondering if someone could give me some advice please.

Today i was coming home only going slow about 40 and went to put my foot down and nothing happened. Had a message saying service required, then a few minutes later message went was back to normal.

I had a mondeo that use to do this when it had been driven slow and someone said you need to give them some stick to keep the turbo clean is this the same on these ?

It's a v70 d5
