Default New XC60 Interior Rattles and Squeaks

I recently took ownership of my new MY12 XC60 R-Design D5, and have only done a couple of hundred miles. In general I am impressed with it, and find it enjoyable to drive. I have one issue with it, though, which is that there seem to be one or two interior squeaks and rattles, which is something I would not expect of a two year old car of this type, let alone a brand new one.

One of the rattles seems to be in the passenger side door, and the other is in the driver's seat, which is, understandably, more prominent when driving over uneven road surfaces. There also seems to be an occasional squeak from the front dashboard.

I am hoping it will be resolved by my Volvo dealer, but I was wondering if I was alone in experiencing this problem, or whether others have had it and, if so, whether it was resolved satisfactorily.

These rattles and squeaks are a feature of the car. Mine is the same as regards the passenger door but also the silver plastic can be squeaking like a mouse but not all the time and it is temperature dependent. Its not something I am happy with especially as the car is not that old and was a good deal more expensive than my previous Scenic which was much quieter as regards rattles etc but maybe the XC60 being a diesel this is normal because I have had a Escort diesel van and that also rattled a good deal.

I have MY12 XC60 R-Design D5 too, 2000 miles and no rattle!

I thought I had this when I bought the car and it annoyed me intensely - eventually worked out that it was the passenger belt buckle that has an annoying habit of always ending up facing the wrong way when retracting after passenger use and bumping against the door pillar

When I hear the rattle now I lean over and flip the buckle through 180, problem cured - may be the same issue for you?

Thanks for the advice. It would be great if that's all the problem is. As I've had the car for such little time, I've not been able to isolate the problem more specifically, so I'll check later and see if that's the case.

No . Not a single rattle or squeak after a few thousand miles driven
Other faults?..plenty

On a funny point - in a previous car I noticed squeaking - literally -and I only found out when the electrics failed that I had a massive family of mice nested in the engine - and they had got absolutely everywhere and chewed through things!

I had all three of the squeeks you mention. Eventually I got so fed up I took it to the dealer and they drive round with a microphone and headset on to pinpoint them. They did the passenger door and the one behind the dash, although that one is sometimes creeping back. The drivers seat is high pitched on mine and intermittent, so not easy to find.

Still, that one happens rarely and seems to go if I stop and open and close the drivers door.

My advice would be take it to the dealer, mine did take it seriously and fix them (mostly).

I have the passenger side squeak and its not the seat belt it only happens sometimes but is rather annoying, I might ask the dealer next time I'm near by which is not often.

I had the passenger door rattle on my 10MY. In the end I door the card trim off myself and traced it to a loose connector to the mid range speaker. The hard plastic cover rattled over the metal connector. Taped it up and no noise. Taking the door apart is not for the faint hearted though.
