Min/max height of hydraulic jack
I want to buy an hydraulic jack cause I'm sick of lifting the car with the regular car jack or going to my friend's shop every time I wanna lift the car.
Does anyone know what's the ground clearance and what's the minimum max height in order to properly lift the wheels of the ground?

Hi the bigger the jack the better the best one I've used I could get the jack onto the diff plate from behind the rear bumper it had something like a 4 feet jack bar so lift the whole back end then put the axel stands under the jacking points job done for the best access to rear end .the same applies to front only jacking plate is at the centre of the steering rack I think o access for jack is from front bumper never work under a car without AXEL STANDS

I have stands. But I cannot buy one as the one linked. As much as I would prefer, I have to go with the bottle type, because I live in a 4th floor without a lift, so I need something to stay in the car, and one of those is just too big and heavy.

measure the clearance where you need to jack from and buy accordingly make sure to buy a quality jack with the right capacity for the weight of your car. for safety reasons . . dont take risks when working under cars buy some axel stands as well. and some wheel chocks.

I use this trolley jack, although it was much cheaper when I bought it.
https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/clar...nium--steel-q/ Being aluminium, it is fairly light and portable. The things on the side work quite well as carry handles too. The bar on mine can be dismantled into two sections and is easily removable for storage. I only use mine to lift one corner at a time on the 940, for which it is fine. I also use axle stands, generally supporting the car on at least three points if I'm going underneath it. I bought the jack for use on a lighter, but lower, 80s sportscar as well. The only disadvantage of aluminium is that it tends to have lower weight limits and if it does fail, it will crack suddenly and catastrophically rather than creaking, slowly splitting and giving some warning like steel. Note - I have NOT put this to the test! |

Thank god.
I still think I'm gonna try these bottle type instead, since they are lighter and smaller. Like the one in this pic:
